Workshops and Training
based on Onye’s book The Drum: Voice of the Village

We provide workshops, events, coaching, and music that create life-changing experiences for adults, children, and health care professionals. Our programs offer a spiritual structure with practical insights to help an individual find purpose and meaning in life and to realize their personal legacy. Participants receive insights into expanding their consciousness, enabling them to make vital decisions on their life’s paths and directions. They are empowered to transcend fears, negative belief systems, and dysfunctions. As a result, they emerge with a stronger psyche and tools to help create a more enlightened society.

Our workshops and training courses combine the therapeutic and healing effects of drumming and dancing, spiritual principles, celebrations and ceremonies, as well as meditation, stress relief, prayer, subtle energy techniques, laughter and fun. They integrate both traditional and modern approaches of music, rhythms, movement, and sound that promote physical, mental, and emotional balance, spiritual insight, self-expression and healing arts.

Please bring musical instruments such as an African djembe or conga drums, any standing drums or shakers to our workshops and events. If you do not have a drum you may rent one from us! Also, wear loose clothing and bring additional layers, for warmth.

Most programs last approximately three hours and can be extended to include a series of classes or one- to two-day workshops and retreats.

Workshops for Adults

An Introduction to The Drum: Voice of the Village

Onye introduces the power of healing drums centered on self-discovery through group drumming and dancing, and on the sharing of insights to help deepen spiritual understanding and build healing communities.

Awakening Consciousness
Heart, Body and Soul

Primordial rhythmic drumming, expressive forms of music and spontaneous movement are powerful therapeutic tools. Learn how traditional societies use these simple techniques to heal and transform patients and individuals emotionally, mentally, and physically. Drumming can help health professionals, practitioners, and others cultivate harmony, cooperation, and self-awareness in a stress-free, healing and supportive environment. We discover the healing qualities and effects of drumming and learn how to combine music and prayers or affirmations to address specific mental, emotional, and physical conditions. Onye will teach us to transmute destructive thoughts, attitudes and belief systems to help cleanse the soul and awaken our consciousness. In addition, we explore a wide range of traditional African healing practices. Join a highly experienced teacher who has been an advisor to countless people over 30 years and who combines the best of ancient traditions with the newest body-mind therapeutic techniques to discover the extraordinary power of the healing rhythms experience.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
Understand the principles of rhythmic healing
Lead activities that promote stress reduction
Employ therapeutic tools that can be applied to patient care
Identify movements that enhance physical well-being
Further explore traditional healing practices with perspective and enthusiasm

The Miracles of Music: Healing the Wounds of Our Times

The miracle of life and music came to be in the very same moment of creation. In the beginning was the Word—embodied sound—and then the word was made flesh. All emerged from the Only One Source, issuing forth first as sound. That’s why sound, as primal as ancient drumming, is such a powerful force for bringing people together and bringing people back to what’s most real in themselves.

In the Miracles of Music, you’ll experience the power of authentic African rhythm languages and dance patterns bringing you into community and true communion with others and yourself. Together, we’ll explore the Mystery through drumming and dance, transcend fear, let go into surrender and reconnect to what is most healthy and holy. This experience, which generates compassion and peace, bridges cultures and promotes respect for others, evokes grace, and models positive life-affirming ways of relating.

Please bring your musical and rhythmic instruments such as hand drums, harps and bass guitar. Together, we’ll celebrate life, peace, unity and community.
